Hello everybody, my name is Shen Lixin. I’m a first year student. I really like Chinese, I also really like baseball. Do you know why? Because baseball can teach us a lot of Chinese. Today I’ll tell everybody some related baseball terms.
Dìyī shì dìli. Měiguó měige dà-chéngshì dōu yǒu bàngqiú duì. Bǐfang shuō, Xiūsīdūn、Bōshìdùn yǒu bàngqiú duì, Zhījiāgē hé Niǔyuē ye3 yǒu bàngqiú duì. Bàngqiú duì de dui4ming2 ye3 hěn yǒu yìsi. Bǐfang shuō, yǒu hóngwà-duì, báiwà-duì, yǒu hǎidào-duì. Wǒ zuì xǐhuan nǎge duì ne? Wǒ zuì xǐhuan Niǔyuē de Yángjī-duì. Wèishénme ne? Yīnwèi wǒ shì Niǔyuē rén, suǒyǐ wǒ jiù shì Niǔyuē de fěnsī.
First is geography. In America every big city all has baseball team. For example, Houston, Boston have baseball teams, Chicago and New York also have baseball teams. The names of baseball teams [duiming] are also very interesting. For example, there are the Red Sox, the White Sox, and the Pirates. Which team do I like best? I like New York Yankees the best. Why? Because I am a New Yorker, so I am a New York fan.
Da3 bàngqiú hěn jiǎndān. Zhǐ xūyào sānge dōngxi. Zuì zhòngyào shì qiú, yě jiù shì bàngqiú. Dǎqiú yòng yīge bàngqiú bàng. Nǐ dǎqiú yǐhòu, nǐde duìshǒu dei3 jiēqiú, jiēqiú xūyào yòng yī ge bàngqiú shǒutào. Bie wang-le chuān bàngqiú- yī. Ru3guo3 bù chuān yīfú, guānzhòng huì xiào nǐ.
Playing baseball is simple. One only needs three things. Most important is the ball, that’s [ye jiu shi] the baseball. To hit the ball, you use a baseball bat. After hitting the ball, your opponent must catch the ball [jie qiu], to catch the ball you need a baseball glove. Don’t forget to wear baseball clothes. must wear baseball clothes. If you don’t wear clothes, the audience will laugh. [okay, the people who understood that will probably laugh].
Zuìhòu, wǒmen shuō dǎ qiú. Bǎ qiú dǎ-dào dìshang jiào gǔndìqiú, bǎ qiú dǎ-dào tiānkōng jiào gāo fèi qiú. Rúguǒ bǎ qiú dǎ-dào bàngqiú cháng wài, zhè jiào quánlèidǎ. Dǎ quánlèidǎ zuìhǎo, bùdàn kěyǐ défēn, érqiě guānzhòng huì gǔzhǎng ni3.
Lastly, I’ll talk about hitting the ball. Hitting the ball [ba construction] into the ground is called a “grounder,” hitting the ball into the sky [tiankong] is called “high fly ball.” If [ruguo] you hit the baseball out of the park, this is called a home run [da quanleida = hit total bases ball]. Hitting a homerun is the best [zuihao], not only can [you] get points [dafen], also [erqie] the audience [guanzhong] will clap [guzhang] for you.
Wǒ jin1tian1 shuo1-dao4 zhe4li3 (Today I speak up to here). Gèwèi guānzhòng, wǒ xīwàng jīntiān nǐmen dōu juéde wǒde yǎnjiǎng bùdàn shìgè quánlèidǎ, érqiě yě juéde wǒ shuó de hěn bàng.
Xièxie dàjiā.
Today I will speak up to here. Dear audience [gewei guanzhong], I hope you think today my speech [yanjiang] not only is a home run, but also will feel I have spoken splendidly [bang]s.

第一是地里。美国每个大城市都有棒球队。比方说，休斯敦、波士顿有棒球队，芝加哥和纽约也有棒球队。棒球队的队名也很有意思。比方说，有红袜队，有白袜队，有海盗队。我最喜欢哪个队呢？ 我最喜欢纽约的洋基队。为什么呢？因为我是纽约人，所以我就是纽约的粉丝。
打棒球很简单。只需要三个东西。最重要是求，也就是棒球。打球用一个棒球棒。你打球以后，你的对手得接球，接球需要用一个棒球手套。别忘了穿棒球衣。不穿衣服，观众会笑你。
最后，我们说打球。把球打到地上叫滚地球，把球打到天空叫高费求。 如果把球打到棒球场外，这叫全累打。打全累打最好，不但可以得分，而且观众会鼓掌你。
